đ An Ode to Madonna: Awakening OUR Rebel Spirit đ
As we approach International Womenâs Day, I want to celebrate a woman who has been a lightning rod for controversy, a symbol of freedom, and an unapologetic force of nature: Madonna.
I recently stumbled across a program called âBecoming Madonnaâ while doing my admin, and it reignited something in me. It took me back to my teenage years, when I was utterly captivated by her â not just her music or her funky outfits (though I loved those lace bows and dangling necklaces), but her attitude.
Madonna didnât care what anyone thought. She didnât follow the rules. She didnât try to please or fit in. She was unapologetically, fiercely, and joyfully HER. And in doing so, she set millions of teenage girls â including me â free.
Yes, she pushed boundaries. Yes, she shocked the world with her antics, her âBoy Toyâ belts, and her provocative performances. But hereâs the thing:Â she was always in charge. She wasnât sexualizing women â she was owning her power, her body, and her choices. And she didnât care who didnât like it.
Watching that program reminded me of the indomitable spirit she awakened in me all those years ago. That spirit says:
- Be sassy.
- Be bold.
- Be free.
- Be YOU.
Itâs a spirit that doesnât worry about being âtoo muchâ or âtoo oldâ or âtoo anything.â Itâs a spirit that wears what it wants, says what it thinks, and lives life on its own terms.
So, thank you, Madonna, for showing us what it means to own our power and live unapologetically. Thank you for awakening OUR rebel spirit â the one that dares to break the rules, defy expectations, and shine brightly, no matter what.
This International Womenâs Day, letâs channel that Madonna energy. Letâs stop apologizing for who we are. Letâs stop worrying about what others think. Letâs be sassy, bold, and free.
Because the world doesnât need us to fit in. It needs us to stand out.
